Review
FIFA 09 is the latest installment in the highly popular football ( soccer) simulation video game fro Electronic Arts Sports. Amazing Graphics and addictive game play made FIFA 09 the best in the series
The FIFA series, in the past few years ( specifically since 2007) tended to be all just the same as the one before, as if you were being hit by a déj vu one after another. But the guys over EA Sports have taken upon themselves to create the best experience a football fan and an avid PC gamer can have. FIFA 09 is not just beautiful game but it is one of the best incarnation of the beautiful sport, when you dig into the game you discover the feeling that the real players do when playing on the field.
Graphics
EA games have always had this extra edge to its games solely because of how much they take care of their games' arts and graphics and in FIFA 09 its certainly the case. The user interface of the game is sleek and stylish and enhanced with widgets that you can customize to your liking and where you can check your favorite team's stats and results while keeping a hold of your own stats in the Adidas Live Season.
Now when it comes to the games kicking the ball graphics its one of the best in its genre , and although its now where close to the versions of the game on PS3 and XBOX 360, you can still enjoy the players looking so much alive. They sweat, they don't look fat any more and the grass is 3d-er on this year's FIFA (Touche... I know)
Performance
One of the not so strong points of the FIFA series was ball control, you would have one or two balls throughout a game that would go awkwardly in a way you did not meant it to be, yet this year's FIFA has cured its dilemma with outstanding ball control and the ball actually sticks to the player's feet for more than two seconds when its actually need it be.
Bugs within the game is virtually nonexistent and the game play flawlessly given you have a PC that can handle the game medium requirements
Game Play
FIFA 09 is the first game to introduce the mouse and keyboard game play and although its sounds great and interesting its too much complicated and will not let you enjoy the beauty of the game as opposed to playing it the old way(via the keyboard alone). The mouse input is not for everyone but it is worth trying and its certainly a step in the right direction.
Pro Evolution Soccer in the past few years have always had the upper hand when it came to the enjoyment of the game play but its safe to say that FIFA 09 blows away any contenders on the thrown of the football simulation video games genre. The game play looks and feels so real that you will find your self so immersed that you will start screaming at your fellow team mates for ball and cursing if they fail to cross of pass you the game.
The AI of the game has improved so much that the days of scoring a scorcher from beyond the center is long gone and finally you don't feel like the dribbling powers of Maradonna and the scoring ability of Pele is for you alone but its all the same for the player up ahead.
Conclusion
EA Sports should be proud that they have produced such a sweet game, this has proved to be the best FIFA ever.
