Today we have finally launched the new review system. Some of the notable features are outlined below as well as some clarifications that may confuse our loyal followers.
Features:
New Layout: The new layout gave us the opportunity to expand on our design and provide more information at your fingertips. The new design allows us to continue to add features as we develop them without sacrificing much needed space.
Display of Consoles: We wanted to provide an easier way to see which systems the game is currently on, with this new bar it allows you to check them with a quick glance.
Ratings: The new rating bars are very easy to understand, but we have made some major changes to this area of our reviews. We have now separated reviews into three categories; Design, Story Line, and Game Play. There is also an extra bar that totals all three of the categories into one cumulative score.
Another major change was that we separated the Author scores from the User scores. These are clearly labeled and shouldn't need any further explaining.
Fans & Haters: A feature I am personally fond of is the ability to become a fan or a hater for a particular game. It is only a visual count right now, but I do plan to expand on this feature in the future.
Comments: The comments feature is very simple and easy to understand, but I will go over the basics quick. You can write a regular comment, but you also have the ability to rate the actual review (NOT THE GAME). You are not require to write a comment to rate the review, just select a rating and hit ok. A perk of writing a comment with a rating is that everyone will be able to see what you rated it as. This may or may not be your intentions so please keep this in mind.
Tags: As a Reviewer is filling in the information for their review they are required to fill in the tags for certain categories. I will not go into much detail with this, but in the near future this will evolve into a similar games feature.
Please allow sufficient time for authors to update their reviews!
This has been a very long and time consuming system and has been tested thoroughly by myself, but if you come across any oddities or bugs please report them.
I will be expanding on the system in the future, but if you have features in mind please send me a PM about them and I will be sure to consider all feature requests.
For staff members I will have a news article just for you guys that will explain the system more in depth. This will be posted either tonight or tomorrow.
I hope that you all enjoy the new system because I enjoyed making it, but I am looking forward to adding new features for our members ;) |
